Dear Parents and Families

Natty here! I’m a 5th year here at Cornerstone, and today I got the opportunity to be principal [with the help of Liesl of course.] A couple of the things I got to do today were observing, helping out in Lower Elementary lunch, and helping Liesl with this newsletter. I observed in Toddlers, Children House 1, Lower Elementary, and the Multipurpose Room, where we have breakfast. One of the things I observed in Toddlers was that when they sang a song, and when they got to the part when they sing “I LOVE YOU”, they sang it REALLY loud, and SUPER enthusiastically. One of the things that I observed in Children’s House 1, was that one of the children reminded a classmate to find some work to do while she washed dishes. In Garden, one of the Lower Elementary classes, I observed that when a child dropped a stand, her friend picked it up for her. And last but not least, the Multipurpose Room. My favorite thing that I observed was that the teachers talked to the children like the children were adults too! And now, you will read about Events and Upcoming Events.

Events and Upcoming Events

Parent Partnership Event ~ 5:30 to 7:00, Monday, November 27th!

This special evening is on your calendars and we also wanted to start sending out reminders. During this event, children will present their favorite work to you on Montessori materials! It will give you a deeper understanding of the materials they use and a chance to work as they do! We hope to see everyone there!

Sixth Year Event ~

On November 14, at 4:30, there was a meeting for the 6th years with last year’s graduates to talk about their middle school experiences and middle school options. First the 6th years and the graduates got to talk for a while and then they were called to the platform in Forest. Then one of the Upper Elementary teachers, Mara, asked the graduates to introduce themselves and talk about their schools. After that Mara talked about the different school options. Following this, she asked the parents to talk about their experience when their child changed schools. After that, she let the 6th years and the graduates talk for a few more minutes before Mara dismissed them at 6:00.
