Dear Parents and Families,

Please enjoy these simple and sweet words of gratitude expressed today in a letter one of our children wrote to our Literacy Specialist.

“Dear Megan, I am so thankful for your help and support. Now I am reading one of my favorite book’s Ramona the Pest. When ever I read I feel like I’m in a whole new world and because of you I know that I can do anything if I put my mind to it. Plus my spelling is improving you’re a great reading teacher, thank you. p.s. please write back”

We are exceedingly grateful you share your children with us each day ~ their presence in our lives is so precious. Enjoy your long weekend!

Notes and Reminders

Head of School Search Update

Liz Coenen, CMES Board Chair

The Boards of the Montessori Center of Minnesota (MCM) and Cornerstone Montessori Elementary School (CMES), in collaboration with MCM and CMES administrators, are continuing the process of searching for a new Head of School. A Search Committee is now being formed. Members are appointed based on the following criteria: differing experiences and perspectives, diversity, availability, representation from all levels of the learning program, the parent community, administration, and both boards.  In addition to the Search Committee, we have planned a variety of opportunities for all members of the Cornerstone community to provide input.

  • Listening sessions allow for positions with specific areas of expertise such as Administration or Special Education to give insight and guidance.
  • Focus groups, which will convene in early January, allow for the gathering of information from the context of rich conversation among people in similar positions or roles such as parents, guides, support staff, children, and specialists.

Our goal is to make sure that the collective voice is as rich as possible in informing our steps forward.

Here is the timeline going forward:

  • By the end of November: Search Committee is formed and Job Opportunity Statement is finalized
  • December – Early March: listening sessions and focus groups are taking place, applications are being accepted and reviewed
  • May – June: Head of School is hired

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to reach out to Jean Melancon, the Chair of the Search Committee, Liz Coenen, the Chair of the CMES Board, or Molly O'Shaughnessy, Executive Director of MCM.

Reminder: Parent Partnership Event ~ 5:30 to 7:00, Monday, November 27th!

We hope everyone has taken the opportunity to RSVP and look forward to seeing you all there.
