Notes and Reminders

Head of School Search Update

Both site visits for the finalists are completed.  Thank you to all who participated and asked insightful questions of our candidates.

The Head of School Search Committee has made a recommendation for the next Head of School to both the Cornerstone Montessori Elementary Board and to the Board of the Montessori Center of Minnesota. Both Boards have approved the Search Committee’s recommendation and an offer is being extended to the candidate.

Once the candidate signs the offer, an announcement will be made to the community with the name of the next Head of School. We are hoping to make that announcement in the next week.

If you desire more information about any aspect of the search process, members of the Head of School Search Committee, timeline, etc., please visit either the CMES or MCM web site and click on the tab titled “Head of School Search”.

As we think of moving forward as a community under new leadership, I wanted to share some thoughts with you. Throughout the process of the search I have been reminded again and again of the precious and unique community we have at Cornerstone and the Montessori Center of Minnesota; families, children, staff, leadership, Boards… it’s powerful, which is why we want everyone’s voice! At the same time, every hard decision pushes us all to consider our most passionate perspectives, naturally furthering people from middle-ground and bringing richness and complication in equal measure. What unites us around our mission is bigger and stronger than the messiness and complication of growth and change. What unites us around our mission and all the work we’ve done together to grow Cornerstone is the solid ground we get to stand on with our new Head of School, and from which we tackle our next big works. And there is big, hard, exciting work to do!

As we navigate this time of change and embrace our new Leader, let’s do it with grace and strength ~ grace and strength afforded us, in part, because of the community we make up. How lucky we are to be in this place as a school. I am reminded every day, as I watch children set aside their pains and worries and choose joy, to choose joy in where we are and where it allows us to go…

Thank you for your patience in the process. Thank you in advance for your support of our next steps forward.
