Dear Families,

The Upper Elementary girls took a bold stand this week, sharing with their entire community their feelings of exclusion during sports games at recess.  The girls organized a joint meeting of the two classes, shared information about sexism and discrimination, and planned for committees to create rules and inclusive policies for football and soccer.  It was amazing to watch these girls stand up confidently in front of their peers and share their stories with honesty and courage.

We are so appreciative of Connie Gottfried, one of our UE parents, for organizing the t-shirt fundraiser for CMES this year.  Please send in your order forms by Wednesday, May 8, and be in touch if there are concerns about cost.  While we are raising money, we also want all children to have a shirt if they want one and will be happy to work with your family to accommodate your needs.

Looking ahead to May 20, we are excited for our final Parent Partnership event of the year.  Literacy Night is an opportunity to share books, sign up for a library card, and read with your child!  We are hoping to order bag lunches once again this year; if you are planning to join for dinner, please make sure to RSVP to Zitlali no later than May 13.  More information about the event can be found here.

May is a busy month, as we prepare for the end of the year.  Important dates for the month, as well as for the last week of CMES in June, will go home with your child this week.  You can also click here to access the calendar.

Hopefully you saw yesterday’s email about the family satisfaction survey.  We hope you will take the time to complete it before May 13. This survey is an opportunity to share your thoughts and experiences at Cornerstone.  We do ask that only one survey be submitted per family.

I am happy to share that Mara Johnson will be joining Cornerstone Cafe next Friday.  We are confident children will be there to present, as well!

Have a great weekend,

Alyssa
