Dear Families,

The Upper Elementary has had a very exciting week!  On Tuesday they went on their annual trip to Camp Tanadoona - the children did rock climbing, archery, an ecosystem walk, and enjoyed some great time outside.  On Thursday children new to the UE learned from the Friends of the Mississippi River and did some hands-on work learning about waterways. Pictures from both activities are below (as well as one of some of our 6th years preparing for graduation)!
Next week will be a busy one for the entire campus.  Exams for the primary training course at MCM take place Monday-Wednesday; we are excited for our staff and substitutes finishing up their work and are planning to be extra quiet for them to concentrate.  You may see visitors in the building who are proctoring the exams and volunteering to support.

Monday evening is our final Parent Partnership of the year.  Literacy Night is a great opportunity to swap books for the summer, to read with your child, and to learn more about literacy from Megan, our reading specialist, and the St. Paul Public Library.  Click here to learn more!

And then Tuesday we will hold elections for the CMES school board.  All charter school parents are encouraged to stop by the front desk to pick up a ballot and vote.  That evening at 5:30 is our annual meeting, where all are invited to hear from CMES chair Jean Melancon about the board’s activities this year.  Just prior to the meeting, our very own Hayley Bahnemann will present research she conducted this year at 4:30. Please note that both the board meeting and Hayley’s presentation will take place in the multi-purpose room.

Graduation and Kindergarten Flyup are quickly approaching on Thursday, June 6!  Flyup takes place at 11am; families of current kindergartners are invited to celebrate the transition to Lower Elementary that morning. Graduation for our 6th years is at 2pm in the MCM Lecture Room. We look forward to seeing families there! And at the very end of the day, the entire community will gather between 4:30 and 6pm at Lake Phalen for an end of year picnic/potluck.  Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish to share and we will celebrate the year together.

Stay warm and dry this weekend!
