Dear Families,

What an exciting week!  Including the highlights discussed below, Senator Foung Hawj visited Cornerstone on Wednesday.  The Marsh girls who invited him gave a thorough tour of the school - it was obvious that both Senator Hawj and the children were delighted by each other!

Summer Eats Minnesota is a program that offers free breakfast and lunch for children under 18 during the summer months. The nearest location to Cornerstone is the Boys and Girls Club, just across the street. Breakfast is served 9-10:30 and lunch 12:30-2, Monday through Friday beginning June 10. We had a wonderful, if wet and cold, cleanup day in the Early Childhood outdoor environments this past Sunday. Thanks to all the families who braved the elements to help us pour sand, transplant strawberries, and generally maintain the spaces. The yards look fabulous and we are so excited to get down to planting in the prepared beds!

We also had a wonderful Parent Partnership event on Monday. Highlights included Brianna setting poetry to ukulele, lots of books to take home, and a beautiful night for reading together. We are so grateful to the St. Paul Public Library for donations and support, and to Terri and Megan for all their work setting the event up.

And on Tuesday was the annual meeting of the CMES board. Congratulations to Amy Dvergsdal and Marcus Almon on their appointment to the board! Marcus and Amy have been long-time parents at Cornerstone and we look forward to their contributions. We also thank Amanda Cina for her years of service as she exits the board next month. Amanda wrote our quarterly Cornerstone newsletter for donors and carries with her a thoughtful steadiness at every meeting. Enjoy your newly free Tuesdays, Amanda!

As we wrap up this school year, I want to express my gratitude to the entire Cornerstone staff for their phenomenal work with children. They love each and everyone of your children and are a joy to work with. Hannah Lee, the trained float in Early Childhood, will have her last day with us this coming Friday (May 31). Hannah is a true Montessorian - she works in all three EC environments and does so with grace, humor, and a true compassion for the children. We wish her the best in her next experience and appreciate everything she has done for Cornerstone this year.

Information about the events of the last week of school were published in May 17’s Stepping Stones and has been emailed again separately for your information.  2019-20 bus ride applications for the elementary children are due June 5.  Please click here to access your copy.

Have a wonderful weekend,
