Dear Families,

I watched Sara give one of the Great Lessons this week, the Story of Life.  In this presentation, the guide shares with the children how life came to be on Earth, and how humans have been here for a very short period of this timeline.  It’s a beautiful, exciting story about adaptation, learning to change with circumstances, and a reminder of the preciousness of life.  As we move into conferences, I hope you will share with your children and your children’s guides the excitement that comes from the Montessori materials and Cosmic Education, as Dr. Montessori called the elementary curriculum.

Great Lesson

Conferences take place next Thursday and Friday, October 24-25.  We will have childcare during your slots, and please note that all 1st-6th grade children should plan to attend their conferences this year.  If you would like to contribute snacks to support the staff during these busy days, please click here to sign up.  We thank you for your generosity!

Parent Partnership

In advance of conferences, children will share their favorite work with you on Monday, October 21!  Please join us between 5:30 and 7:00 for dinner and a lesson from your child.  Please note that food will be available for all, and we order food based on your RSVPs.  A representative from the ACES program at the Boys and Girls Club will also be with us to share their work.  We encourage you to treat this Parent Partnership as an open house, and stop in your child’s classroom or for dinner first - food will be available throughout the evening.

Bus Reminders

Please note that children receive snack at school just prior to the bus ride home; children should not bring food from home for the bus ride.  Thank you for your attention to this detail, and to all of our bus guidelines on page 8 of the Parent Policies Handbook.

Board Members Needed

The CMES Board is seeking parent and community members.  Please let me know if you are interested or know anyone who might be a good addition to our school’s leadership.

Halloween is coming up in just a few weeks.  October 31 at Cornerstone is a regular day; please keep costumes and candy at home.

Enjoy your long weekend!
