Dear Families,

We were very happy to welcome two new on-site assistants to our elementary program this week!  Tera Iverson and Sulmy Galdamez will be supporting children in our on-site care program daily this fall.  We are delighted to have additional support from two talented new staff members.

Application for Educational Benefits

CMES families are strongly encouraged to complete the application for educational benefits that was emailed to you earlier this fall.  Not only does this form give qualifying families access to free or reduced meals, but it also contributes to Cornerstone’s revenue in the next school year.  Please let us know if you need another copy.

Material Pickup

Our next material distribution is next Friday, October 9, between 11am and 5:30pm.  At the same time, our Cornerstone Food Shelf will be available for families to take any needed items.  Thank you to the many of you who have donated!

Seeking a Volunteer

Cornerstone has been gifted two large white boards (8’x5’), which we look forward to using with the children.  If you have a vehicle large enough for these materials, we would so appreciate your willingness to pick them up in Minneapolis, just past Highways 35W and 36.

Ramsey County TechPaks

Ramsey County is offering “TechPaks,” including a laptop and internet hotspot, to eligible families.  Click here to apply.

Niniijaanis One of Ones

A member of our extended Montessori Partners Serving All Children community has started a social enterprise to support Indigenous children in early childhood.  They make beautiful learning materials whose purchase allows additional materials to be distributed to early childhood programs.  Please click here to learn more.

Elementary Park Visits

Liesl and Tess, our therapy dog, will be at area parks this month, offering an opportunity for your children and you to experience some in-person socialization.  These events will take place after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Children and adults alike will be expected to wear masks.  Click here for the details of where and when to meet Liesl.

Zooming with Tess

We are working hard to set up Tess with a Zoom account of her own, so that children can work alongside her like they do at school.  While we finish preparing Tess’ Zoom account, children are invited to email her.  Tess can be reached at  She’s very eager to hear from and see your children!

Math Interventions

Amber Osterkamp, CMES’ Math Specialist, will begin working with all elementary children in 2nd-6th grades next week.  If your child will receive 1:1 support, she will contact you directly.  Please click here for more information about her work.

Have a wonderful weekend,
