I assist children at Cornerstone who are developing their English language skills. Reading and writing are the major areas of our work that take place in and out of the environments. Listening and speaking develop naturally in our environments because of the many opportunities for using a multitude of materials, for working with others, and for repeating work and lessons until the concepts are mastered.

Prior to teaching at Cornerstone I taught in public and private elementary schools for seven years, then for twelve years I was a homeschool teacher for my four children. I have a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota and did my ESL licensure work at Hamline University in 2009-10. In each of these educational settings I've loved watching children grow as they make chioices based on their unique personalities and interests.

I have a keen interest in all cultures and languages, and enjoy tutoring English in the St. Paul immigrant community. I also enjoy yoga, wilderness hiking and canoeing, gardening and reading.
