Stepping Stones News 4-28-23
Hello Families,
I hope that many of you were able to participate virtually in the MCM All Stars event last night! Even though I get to be in our environments all the time, I still always find it inspiring to see video of the children as they work. If you weren’t able to watch live, it's not too late! The event presentation is available to be seen here and you can check out the silent auction until tomorrow (Saturday) here.
Some of the photos to share with you this week include children rescuing frog eggs from a shoe found in the pond (!), children teaching parents at our Parent Partnership event earlier this week, getting the gardens ready for spring, and children who truly understand how to make the system work for them on a Going Out to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.
2023-24 School Calendar
The 2023-24 school calendar is ready for you to start marking dates! Please click here for a copy. Hard copies will also be distributed over the summer and the 2024 summer calendar for CMS will be distributed shortly.
May Dates
A heads up on some important May dates for you to note:
- May 12 - no school for teacher in-service
- May 17 - camp day for Upper Elementary (more soon!)
- May 19 - our final Cornerstone Cafe of the year
- May 25 - cheer on graduates of the MCM 3-6 Diploma Course
- May 29 - Memorial Day, no school
Spring Assessments
The children are almost finished with the MCAs and have been doing a great job keeping engaged and motivated through them. Once we complete the state assessments, we will have one more round of internal FastBridge assessments and the EFGo Pro executive function assessment for Children’s House. EFGo Pro will be completed the week of May 8, while FastBridge should take place roughly May 15-26. Both assessments will have minimal impact on the children’s time in the classroom.
Summer Programs
If you are still looking for summer activities for your children, please visit the Conway Center (2090 Conway St) on May 7 12pm-3pm. In addition to summer opportunities, there will be food, entertainment, and more. If you can’t make it on May 7, you can still find summer programs online at Sprockets St Paul. Our colleagues at the Neighborhood House also have spaces still available in their Summer Sunrise program, a free 9 week summer camp at the Wellstone Center. Click here to learn more.
Parent Donation
One of our parents is looking to pass along some of her gently used baby items, including structured carriers, a wrap carrier, baby blanket, and car seat cover. If you are interested in any of these items, please let us know and we’ll help you coordinate a time to pick them up from the office.
Just Between Friends Sale
I learned about Just Between Friends at my ECFE class about two weeks ago, shortly before we were given a stack of free admission tickets for the May 10-13 sale in Woodbury. Just Between Friends is a consignment event for children’s clothing/toys; if you’d like a ticket (or 12!), please let us know.

¡Espero que muchos de ustedes hayan podido participar virtualmente en el evento MCM All Stars anoche! Aunque puedo estar en nuestros entornos todo el tiempo, siempre encuentro inspirador ver videos de los niños mientras trabajan. Si no pudiste verlo en vivo, ¡no es demasiado tarde! Algunas de las fotos para compartir con ustedes esta semana incluyen niños rescatando huevos de rana de un zapato encontrado en el estanque (!), niños enseñando a los padres en nuestro evento de Asociación de Padres a principios de esta semana, preparando los jardines para la primavera y niños que realmente entienden cómo hacer que el sistema funcione para ellos en Going Out to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

Fechas de mayo Un aviso sobre algunas fechas importantes de mayo para que tenga en cuenta:
- 12 de mayo: no hay clases para maestros en servicio
- 17 de mayo: día de campamento para Upper Elementary (¡más pronto!)
- 19 de mayo: nuestro último Cornerstone Café del año
- 25 de mayo - celebrar a los graduados del Curso de Diploma MCM 3-6

Evaluaciones de primavera Los niños casi han terminado con los MCA y han estado haciendo un gran trabajo manteniéndose comprometidos y motivados a través de ellos. Una vez que completemos las evaluaciones estatales, tendremos una ronda más de evaluaciones internas FastBridge y la evaluación de la función ejecutiva EFGo Pro para Children's House. EFGo Pro se completará la semana del 8 de mayo, mientras que FastBridge debería tener lugar aproximadamente del 15 al 26 de mayo. Ambas evaluaciones tendrán un impacto mínimo en el tiempo de los niños en el salón de clases.
Programas de Verano Si todavía está buscando actividades de verano para sus hijos, visite el Conway Center (2090 Conway St) el 7 de mayo de 12 p. m. a 3 p. m. Donación de padres Uno de nuestros padres está buscando pasar algunos de sus artículos para bebés usados en buen estado, incluidos los portabebés estructurados, una manta para bebés y una funda para el asiento del automóvil.
